Introduction to Hearthcraft
Presented by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
Description:

The concept of the home as spiritual center is found in many cultures and throughout many eras.  The workshop will explore these ideas, among others:

The home as heart: using the home as the foundation of a spiritual practice

Concepts and symbols associated with hearth and home

Excellence, Heroism, and the Noble: Reclaiming Pagan Virtue
Presented by Brendan Myers
Description:
The most common statement of pagan ethics is the Wiccan Rede.  It is practical and helpful in most circumstances, yet it bears almost no resemblance to the ethical thinking of our ancient forebears in ancient European and near-eastern societies.
This workshop shall explore some of the different statements of ethics which come to us from ancient sources, from the poetic expressions of the Havamal and the Councils of Cormac, from pre-christian classical philosophers, and so on.
Brendan shall show how ‘Virtue’ was originally a pagan idea, which had had nothing to do with humility or modesty or any of the passive qualities that it is associated with now. Rather, it was a heroic idea, connected strongly to important values of selfhood, community, the pursuit of a worthwhile and noble life, and even the aim for immortality itself.

Bio of Presenter:

Brendan Myers has been a part of Ontario's pagan community for almost twenty years. He is the author of six books, including "The Mysteries of Druidry" (2006) and "The Other Side of Virtue" (2008). He has a doctorate in philosophy, specialising in environmental ethics, from the National University of Ireland. His life's ambition is to be the first philosopher to walk on the moon.

How Poor Communication Can Act Against You
Presented by Jack McKeever
Description:
This workshop will cover an informal way of communication that helps to bring to light how  misery and gossip were inflicted upon us since our childhoods. This discussion will tackle how this actually effects us in the here and now. So many people have beautiful intent in life, happiness and health but unless we are aware of the basic formulation of how we use that intent, it could be all for nothing. Misery breeds misery, learn how to turn around negatives into positives and to think before you speak.

This basic practice, which is easier for some than it is for others, in itself, is the basis of all magick; a clear mind. Using mantras & chants we will learn to keep our minds focussed in the here and now.

Magic and Science
Presented by Helmut

A scientist / author  Ron Hubbard said something to the effect that once science becomes sufficiently complicated it will be indistinguishable from magic. It works with metal magic, why not with other magics?

Bio of Presenter:
Helmut has been studing and teaching metal magic for more than twenty years and using hard science to help define the rules that metal magic operates by and becomes predictable under. Presently recording the lore of smithing from a pagan point of view.

The Importance of the Ritual Process: Applications of Ritual for Spiritual Process
Presented by Ralph Lembcke
Description:

[**This workshop is a continuation of the presentation from last year entitled "The Importance of the Initiatory Process"**]

Everyone is familiar with the term "ritual".  Ritual, from an occult perspective is the completion of a magical act which utilizes words, actions and processes to focus the will of the practitioner to make real changes in accordance with that will.  It is liturgical drama.  But what is the ultimate goal?  Why go through the process, which in our modern lives seems silly at best, and eccentric at least?

Join ceremonialist Ralph Lembcke as he examines the true power and meaning of ritual, through the formulas and applications used over the ages and an exploration of the true power and meaning behind, as well as the importance of ritual.

Bio of Presenter:

Ralph has been an avid "discipulus veneficus" (Latin for "student of magic") for over 30 years.  He has facilitated many professionally presented occult workshops in the Southern Ontario area at various Pagan community events, Spirits of the Earth, PRISM, Hamilton & KW Pagan Pride Days, the Toronto Pagan Conference and many others.

He is an experienced ritualist and has written and contributed to rituals in various traditions and capacities.  He is a practicing ceremonial magician in the Golden Dawn & Solomonic Traditions, was initiated into a Wiccan tradition, and is also a 3rd degree master mason.  He is also a founding member of the former London Pagan Temple, the London Pagan Pub Moot and is the Grand Magister of the Order of the Temple of Archallem (OTA), a private ceremonial magic lodge for which he has developed Ritual Magic curriculum from Probationer through to Third Degree Initiate.

He continues to learn and to share his knowledge of occult subjects through lectures and workshops both inside and outside of the Pagan community and can be reached at archallem@yahoo.ca or through the Order's website at www.archallem.org.
